Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam is Jazmine's mom, and has been a back-up singer for Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, older, her father was offered an appointment as the curator at The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the landmark historical building. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan began her singing career as a contralto children's choirand a few years later in the adult choir. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was at first sporadic "I was doing solos in the church, and I was asked to sign to an gospel label when I was 11, but I was not ready to do that," she recalls. "Then McDonald's offered a competition with children of major cities. In the end, I got the chance to sing Accept The Grace God Gives me on Showtime Apollo. The audience was extremely welcoming." The singer performed along with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday celebration at 13. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age fifteen. At the age of 15 She was signed by Jive Records. They recorded an entire album there, but it didn't get released. Sullivan was eventually dropped on the labels. The singer had a great working connection along with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks and tracks, such as "Backstabbers", which was produced by Timbaland.
